Ender’s Game
Today I started on my goal of reading 100 books in a year, which is about 2 a month. I used the first four days just picking a book. My daughter had just bought Ender’s Game and was going to lend it to me, but I felt bad taking her new book so I said I’d read it when she was done. Then she checked my boyfriend’s bookshelves for books she might borrow, and found Ender’s Game on his shelf. So it’s just meant to be. The author is Orson Scott Card and it’s in the SciFi genre. I’m already up to chapter 8.
I won’t put any spoilers here for those who haven’t read it. It’s ISBN 0-812-53253-8. First printing says 1985 though it was copy-written in 1977.
My daughter asked if I’d ever heard of Bookcrossing, a website devoted to releasing books we no longer want into places where other people can take them home and read them. That amused me because I started a Bookcrossing community on Livejournal.com years ago. http://community.livejournal.com/bookcrossing/ The group has flourished without much help from me. I just checked and it’s still very active. Obviously, many people still love to read.
If you want to know more, the main Bookcrossing website is here: http://bookcrossing.com/
